"The Thracian afternoon of one count"

This is the name of an article about Bessa Valley in this month's issue of Bacchus, the magazine for wine lovers. Some curious facts about the creation of the winery and count von Neipperg's innermost philosophy about wine-making can be found on the pages of the magazines and online at: http://www.bacchus.bg/show.php?storyid=999013&ref=rss As most of Enira fans know, count von Neipperg sincerely believes in Bulgaria's potential in prodcution of quality wines. Maybe that's the reason for their global success.

Our favourite fragment: “My mother was a sincere fan of Bulgarian wines. When we came in 1999 to search for suitable lands for the vineyard, I was amazed that there were vast expanses of empty lands – in the country, where people used to make wine in the ancient times. It turned out that there is a big parcel of empty land waiting for me to buy it and that’s how we had it all started.”

An enterpreneurship, which started as a fairy tale and nourished with lots of love, gives its fruits today - the winery is walking a path of success for 10 years now and Enira wines are acknowledged around the globe. They can be found even at the luxurious Michelin restaurants in far Asia.

The main mission of Enira producers is to enhance globally the image of Bulgarian wines in common. Mark Dworkin, oenologist and export manager of the winery, gives us more insight into it in the 'Cheetah' - a special edition by 'Pari Daily'. When asked about the difficulties he is experiencing in the attraction of foreign investor, he answers in his typical sense of humour: "I remember  a meeting in Korea, in Seul, that took place some year and a half ago. I was offering Enira to a Korean importer. He smiled like only an Asian can and told me: "Oh, you have the courage to offer me some unknown wine in times of crisis, event though you know that I won't buy it". "Yes, but you will think of me again, when you are ready to buy!", Dwrokin replyed. "We are almost ready to export for Korea. We also have some good results in China, Germany and Japan. The crisis turned out as an opportunity for us, because Enira was discovered by consumers that look for a good ratio between quality and price. The truth is, that we won market shares during the crisis".

As to the future plans of the winery, you can read Ivo Antonov's opinion about the need of credit in times of growing production needs. Mr. Antonov's opinion was given to 'Manager' magazine - one of the most respected business monthly magazines in Bulgaria.
