Bulgaria in Bordeaux
The Bordelais continue to look to other areas for investment and the potential of fine wine before tasting through several thousand 2004s and 2006s today (just joking) ....I had the 2006 Enira Reserva from the Bessa Valley..120 km SE of Sofia...that's Bulgaria.....Stephan von Neipperg (Canon-La-Gaffeliere and La Mondotte among many Bordeaux estates) with wine-maker Marc Dworkin(a poster here and former wine-maker at Larmande and Bellefont-Belcier), have produced a surprisingly tasty wine...70% merlot,10% syrah, and the rest petit verdot and cabernet sauvignon....about 15,000 cases, and it will retail well under $25....so a noteworthy value.....it was delicious and just more evidence of how the wine world expands in quality and diversity.
